Upwing uses this site to run its scholarship application and review process. This page explains, in plain terms, what we store and the cookies we use.
Cookies
We use a single, strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in (an httpOnly session cookie). For basic page-view statistics we use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool that sets no cookies and stores no personal identifiers. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so no consent banner is required — you can clear the session cookie any time by signing out.
What we store
The information you enter in your application (personal, academic, and financial details), any documents you upload, and your account email — used only to assess and administer scholarships.
AI processing
To save time, uploaded marksheets may be processed by an AI service to extract and categorise their contents. A human always reviews the result; the AI never makes a decision on its own.
Public vs private
Your application details and uploaded documents are private — shared only with the organization you applied to, its reviewers, and the processing needed to run the service. Some content is public only because an organization chooses to publish it (for example scholar names and its own profile).
Security — best effort, no guarantee
We make reasonable, good-faith efforts to protect your information, but as a volunteer-run non-profit we cannot guarantee its security or availability, and you use the platform at your own risk. Please see our Terms & conditions for the full position, including liability and indemnity.
